Why dilution matters
The selected diluent can affect solubility, stability and experimental consistency. There is no universal method for every peptide or small molecule.
Diluent notation
- BAC — bacteriostatic water may be used as a routine starting diluent where compatible.
- BAC* — bacteriostatic water may be suitable, but batch or compound sensitivity requires additional care.
- Acetic Acid — mild acidification may be used only as a compound-specific solubility aid.
General handling
- Use appropriate aseptic laboratory technique.
- Minimize exposure to air, light and contamination.
- Label prepared solutions with compound, concentration, diluent and preparation date.
- Follow compound-specific and lot-specific storage documentation.
- Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles unless a validated protocol permits them.
